MusicRead

Read notes at a glance.

MusicRead is an Android practice tool for reading written music. A staff appears, you tap an answer, and the app shows what the notation means. No microphone, no instrument.

Google Play listing in preparation.

Name the note

One note on the staff, in treble clef, bass clef or both, including ledger lines. Pick its letter name.

Name the interval

Two notes one after the other. Name the distance by size, from a 2nd up to an octave.

Read the meter

One complete bar. Match it to 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 or 6/8.

Exercises come from rules

Questions are generated as you practise rather than picked from a fixed list, so there is no set to work through and no count to quote. Each answer shows the note's full name and where it sits, or how the interval or bar is counted.
